Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU) has been awarded a 250,000 euro grant with its "Education of Young Horse Practitioners with Innovative Methods" project within the framework of the Erasmus+ Youth Program. AYBU, which was awarded support among 150 projects, operates within the scope of the Erasmus+ Youth Program Cooperation Partnerships (KA220-YOU). The project was coordinated by Health Services Vocational School Horse Breeding and Coaching Program Lecturer Ali Ekber Ün. AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz Köseoğlu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Orçan, Turkish National Agency Vice President Yunus Alper Altay, Turkish Jockey Club Full Member Kerem Alkan, Turkish Equestrian Federation President Hasan Engin Tuncer, academicians, students and project partner representatives attended the event held at the Etlik Milli İrade Campus. Ankara University, which is among the project partners, was represented by Dr. Lecturer Cafer Yıldırım, Alex Atanasoff representing Bulgarian Trakia University, Renan Usluer representing Netherlands Ruma Digital, Franzie Schatzl representing Austrian Youth Association and Cemil Dalkılıç representing Eskişehir İnno Association attended the opening ceremony. The program started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem. Lecturer Ali Ekber Ün made the presentation of the project. Ün stated that the Erasmus+ Youth Program project, which was accepted by the Presidency of the European Union Education and Youth Programs Center, sees digitalization as a structure in which sports, breeding and young people can easily participate with strategic intellectual outputs. He expressed his wish to make the project successful and to provide positive effects on young people. Kerem Alkan, Full Member of the Jockey Club of Turkey, emphasized that the project focuses on horse training, care, health and nutrition in a digital environment from young trainers to farriers, horse doctors to grooms, breeders. He stated that the aim is to ensure that those working in hippodromes and all segments operating in the equestrian sector meet with these innovative methods and increase their knowledge and experience. Hasan Engin Tuncer, President of the Turkish Equestrian Federation, stated that the outputs of the project have great potential for young people to easily take part in the fields of horsemanship and riding and to improve themselves. The first project in the field that left 150 project proposals behind Yunus Alper Altay, Vice President of the Turkish National Agency, announced that the project was evaluated from 150 project proposals submitted to the Turkish National Agency and that their contents were evaluated by independent external experts. He stated that AYBU's project was entitled to receive grant support as a result of the content evaluation and thanked everyone who contributed to the project. A project that examines the field of equestrianism academically Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University President Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz Köseoğlu emphasized that the project aims to educate young people in the field of horsemanship with an innovative and accessible digital infrastructure. He stated that the project will be carried out under the coordination of Lecturer Ali Ekber Ün for a period of 27 months. He stated that they attach importance to the project in order to combine Turkey's equestrian cultural heritage with modern technology. The aim of the project is to prepare guides on horse training, care, health and nutrition on a digital platform for young trainers, farriers, equine doctors, veterinary health technicians, grooms, breeders and farmers who are new to the equestrian sector. Prof. Dr. Köseoğlu stated that the outputs in the project aim to equip everyone interested in equestrianism, from students to horse trainers, veterinarians to farmers, with up-to-date academic information, and emphasized that the project was also developed in accordance with Turkey's Digital Transformation Vision. He stated that the project was designed to contribute not only to their own field experts, but also to the entire equestrian community and European youth. After the program, the speakers interacted with the horses using Virtual Reality VR glasses. The event ended with the cutting of the project opening ribbon with AYBU Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Cengiz Köseoğlu and the participants of the ceremony.
